The Wimmera‘s first arrival at the Port of Napier was on 17 January 1907 and her last visit on Wednesday 5 June 1918 – only weeks before her final voyage. Visits to Napier were made by the Wimmera and her sister ships on their coastal voyages between Auckland and Wellington and return – hence the same large number of approximately 177 visits overall to the port, the same number of visits to Gisborne.
Unlike Gisborne however, the Wimmera was able to berth at wharves of Port Ahuriri on the northside of the bluff separating the port from the town of Napier itself.
The port is located on Hawke’s Bay between Gisborne and Wellington.
