Professor Tannatt William Edgeworth David, academic, geologist and explorer, was one of three Australians who took part in Lieutenant Ernest Shackleton’s British Antarctic Expedition of 1908-09.
Boarding the Wimmera in Sydney on Friday 20 December 1907, Edgeworth David sailed for Lyttleton via Wellington. Accompanying the professor were fellow expeditioners Douglas Mawson and Leo Cotton.
